Skybound Hires Veteran Exec Mitsuru Oda To Lead Japanese Division

Skybound Entertainment, known for popular franchises like The Walking Dead and Invincible, has made a significant move by establishing a Japanese division, Skybound Japan. This expansion aims to tap into Japan's robust markets for anime, manga, and video games. To spearhead the new division, Skybound has brought on board Mitsuru Oda, a veteran executive with extensive experience in the Japanese entertainment industry. Oda's leadership will help Skybound broaden its creative ventures and connect with new audiences in Japan.

Skybound Japan's initial project will be a TV adaptation of the graphic novel Heart Attack, which tells the story of a post-pandemic world where gene therapy grants unique powers to certain individuals, challenging their rights in society. This project, in partnership with Fuji TV, reflects Skybound’s intent to blend live-action and anime storytelling to appeal to both Japanese and global audiences.

This expansion is part of Skybound’s broader strategy to grow its global influence by investing in anime and other local content from Japan(Cartoon Brew)(Final Weapon).
